Accessibility Statement

The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries is committed to providing digital inclusion by making our sites accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We are continually working to improve the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards needed to accomplish that goal. We encourage your feedback – both positive and negative – so that we may provide a useful experience for our users.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Our websites are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We have applied some additional AAA guidelines and other accessibility best practices.

There are some PDFs and other documents posted on our sites that may have accessibility issues. We are reviewing and updating these items. Please contact us if you encounter any content or files that have accessibility issues.

There is some content we do not have full control of. The software vendor of that content is responsible for verifying accessibility requirements of their products. This includes parts of the Prospector WebPac and Encore search platforms.

Measures to Support Accessibility

The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of the content on our websites:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.
  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.

Assessment Approach

Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries assessed the accessibility of our websites by using a number of tools available on the Internet, including the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool, Silktide Accessibility Checker and ARIA Dev Tools.  We are currently exploring external options to help provide the best experience possible.

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
