The Denver Public Library Commission is pleased to announce that a new City Librarian has been hired: Michelle Jeske, DPL

Director of Collections, Technology and Innovation, has replaced Shirley Amore as the Library’s tenth leader in its 125-year history.

Michelle has been with the Library since 2001 and has served in a number of positions, including Manager of Web Information Services and the Community Technology Center and Senior Special Collection Librarian for the Library Without Walls. She has served on the Library’s Executive Team since 2009.  Michelle is active with organizations in our community as well, including the Colorado Association of Libraries, the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries, History Colorado, and the Denver Housing Authority’s STEM, Energy and Economic Development (S.E.E.D.) Initiative. She was a 2005 Library Journal Mover and Shaker, the 2009 Colorado Librarian of the Year, and a 2013 Public Library Association Leadership Fellow.

The Commission conducted a national search for this position, and interviewed many highly qualified candidates. We believe Michelle is well equipped to maintain our high standards of customer service and to help lead us into an exciting future of increased community engagement and partnerships, continuous service innovation, and responsiveness to the changing needs of an active, diverse, and growing community.
